Overview
This course teaches the participants the knowledge and skills needed to productively, safely and competently, operate a Ride on Roller.
Who Should Attend
The course can be tailored for all levels of experience, from novice through to expert. However all participants must have passed the relevant CITB Health, safety and environment test within 2 years of the exam date.
Course Objectives
This course provides instruction in the correct operation of Ride on Rollers for operators who will be using such machines on site. It provides training as referred to in the laws relating to work equipment and health and safety, and is accredited by the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS).
Course Content
Role and responsibilities as a plant operator
Basic components, construction, controls and terminology
Relevant regulations and legislation
Pre-use checks
Manoeuvring in confined spaces
Configure for travelling on site & compacting duties
Hazards, underground and overhead services
Compacting – in straight lines, radii, supported and unsupported edges
Principles, requirements and techniques of good compaction
Shut down and securing procedures
Loading and unloading for transportation.
Assessment
1 day assessment - CPCS theory and practical tests.
On Completion
Successful delegates of of this CPCS Forward Tipping Dumper course will gain the CPCS red card (trained operator), which is valid for 2 years.
Candidates who hold this will then need to achieve the NVQ in Plant Operations within these 2 years, in order to upgrade to a Competent Operator 'Blue’.
