The End of Grandfather Rights (Industry Accredited) CSCS Cards.

CSCS is withdrawing the Industry Accreditation/Grandfather Rights route to a CSCS card from December 31, 2024. This means that after this date, workers with Grandfather Rights cards will no longer be able to renew their cards based on employer recommendations alone. Instead, all applicants will need to have completed a competence-based assessment, specifically an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification), at the appropriate level for their card type.

An NVQ is a competence-based assessment that evaluates the skills, knowledge, and experience a candidate has acquired in their role. It does not involve traditional exams or written tests. Candidates can demonstrate their abilities through various means, such as submitting work evidence (ePortfolio) or participating in discussion-based assessments (via online Zoom meetings).

The time it takes to achieve an NVQ varies depending on the candidate's experience and dedication, but experienced candidates like those with existing Grandfather Rights CSCS cards can potentially achieve the qualification in just four weeks through a professional-discussion style assessment.

Evolution Training and Consultancy Ltd offers several NVQs that provide access to Gold and Black CSCS cards:

Gold CSCS Card qualifications:

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision

Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision

Black CSCS Card qualifications:

Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management

Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management

Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Senior Site Inspection

Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management

If you currently hold a CSCS card under Grandfather Rights, it's essential to plan ahead and start the process of obtaining the required NVQ to ensure you can renew your card after December 2024. Completing the NVQ will demonstrate your competence and help ensure a fully qualified workforce in the construction industry.

To apply for any of these qualifications, you can visit our website and submit an enquiry, send an email to info@evotcs.co.uk or give us a call on 01429 597990. We will then get in touch with you to guide you through the process.
