NRSWA – Unit 7 – Hot Lay
To provide delegates with the skills and knowledge to perform operative duties to the City & Guilds standards set in line with the NRSW Act 1991.
Delegates will be required to take theory based assessments along with a practical assessment which will involve being observed on the job.
This course is designed for those who are already employed in the highways maintenance and utilities sector who require the skills to carry out excavation and reinstatement work (operatives) or who monitor the work of operatives (supervisors)
This course covers:
- The use of materials including HRA, PCSMs, close graded mixtures, dense surface course and porous surfacing materials
- Bitumen binders and equivalence
- Penetration values
- Skid resistance
- Polished stone values
- Laying procedures
- Delivery and rolling temperatures
- Compaction requirements
- Reinstatement profiles
- Intervention limits
- Safe working practices.
